Function

Galactosyllactoses are structurally distinct isomers and differ in the glycosidic linkage of the terminal galactose connected to lactose.

6′-Galactosyllactose is a human milk oligosaccharide (HMO). HMOs are complex carbohydrates present in human milk as a naturally occurring prebiotic. Besides their prebiotic effect, HMOs are also effective antimicronials and antivirals, and regulators of inflammatory immune cell-response cascades.¹ ² ³ ⁴ ⁵
